Keeping your favourites list tidy in IPTV Smarters Pro on a Windows PC

By Isla Worthington Brings up two children, plus a modem of endless forbearance, in Derby.

If your channel list runs to several hundred entries, finding what you actually watch each evening can feel like searching a cluttered drawer. The fix takes ten minutes at most, requires nothing beyond the IPTV Smarters Pro app already installed on your PC, and the result — a short, stable favourites list you can reach in two clicks — stays useful for months without much upkeep.

This guide assumes you have already set up the app. When you first launched it, you entered the login details that arrived by email after payment: a user name, a password and the server address. The app stored those credentials and now opens straight to your channels. Everything from here is about shaping that channel list into something manageable.

Three things people get wrong before they start

Myth one: you need to reorganise the whole list.

You do not. The full channel list stays exactly as it is; you are simply creating a separate, parallel shortlist that sits alongside it. Nothing is deleted, nothing is renamed. If a channel you added to favourites disappears from the top of your list one day, the channel itself is still in the main catalogue — the two views are independent.

Myth two: the favourites list updates itself.

It does not. IPTV Smarters Pro adds a channel to your favourites list when you tell it to, and removes it when you tell it to. The app will not silently drop a channel because it was inactive, and it will not add new channels on your behalf. This is a good thing: your list stays exactly as you left it.

Myth three: you have to rebuild the list every time you log in.

Favourites are stored locally by the app, tied to your profile on that machine. As long as you are using the same Windows PC and have not uninstalled the app or cleared its data, the list persists between sessions. If you do reinstall, it is worth jotting down your favourites beforehand — a note on paper or a quick screenshot is enough.

Adding channels to your favourites list

Open IPTV Smarters Pro and go to the Live TV section. The full channel list appears in the left-hand panel.

  1. Scroll to a channel you want to keep close to hand.
  2. Right-click it. A small context menu appears with an option to add it to your favourites.
  3. Select that option. The channel name will now also appear when you switch to the Favourites view.
  4. Repeat for each channel you want to include.

The Favourites view is accessible from the category list — it usually appears near the top once you have added at least one entry. Switching to it shows only the channels you have chosen, in the order you added them.

Keep the list short on purpose. A favourites list that grows to fifty channels has the same problem as the full list: too much to scan. Aim for the channels you open at least once a week, and leave the rest in the main catalogue where they are easy enough to find with the search bar when you need them.

If you are the sort of viewer who watches a mix of things — a live sport channel on some evenings, a news channel in the morning — consider whether a single favourites list covers everything or whether you would rather use the search bar for the less frequent channels. For something like finding Scottish Premiership football channels on a weeknight, a quick search might be faster than keeping a dedicated channel permanently in your favourites.

Frequently asked questions

Will my favourites list carry over if I log in on a different PC?

Favourites in IPTV Smarters Pro are stored locally on the machine, not on the server. If you install the app on a second PC and log in with the same credentials, you start with an empty favourites list on that machine and would need to rebuild it.

Can I have more than one favourites list?

IPTV Smarters Pro on Windows supports a single favourites list per profile. If you need to separate channels into groups — sports on one list, news on another — the category filters in the main channel view are the most practical alternative.

My favourites list disappeared after an app update. What happened?

Some app updates clear locally stored data, including favourites. If this happens, the channels themselves are unaffected in the main catalogue; you simply need to re-add your preferred channels to the favourites list from scratch. Keeping a brief note of the channels you rely on means the rebuild takes only a few minutes.

Does adding a channel to favourites affect what other people in the household see?

Only if they use the same Windows user account and the same IPTV Smarters Pro profile. Each Windows user account keeps its own app data, so a separate account on the same PC will have its own independent favourites list.

Removing and reordering what is already there

Right-clicking a channel inside the Favourites view gives you the option to remove it. The channel disappears from the list immediately and returns to the main catalogue view only — it was never gone from there.

Reordering is handled by dragging. Click and hold a channel name in the Favourites panel, then drag it up or down to the position you want. The order you set is the order the app remembers. Put the channels you open most often at the top; anything you added speculatively can sit further down or be removed outright.

A tidy favourites list also makes it easier to settle quickly when you sit down with the family. If you use the PC as a larger-screen viewer — perhaps with a monitor connected to a living-room setup — the same logic applies as it does on a television: the fewer decisions the list forces at the start of an evening, the better. For a comparable experience on a bigger display, finding talent shows on a big screen without the fuss covers the viewing side of that setup.

When the list behaves unexpectedly

Occasionally a channel in your favourites list will show a loading error or a blank screen even though the same channel plays fine in the main catalogue. This is almost always a network issue rather than a problem with the favourites feature itself. The channel entry in your favourites is just a pointer; if the stream loads from the main list, it will load from the favourites list too once the connection settles.

If you notice that IPTV Smarters Pro struggles to load channels consistently, the fault is usually upstream of the app. A router reboot clears most transient problems. If your household uses content filters at the router level, those can interfere with IPTV streams in ways that are not immediately obvious — router-level content filters and why they block your IPTV explains what to look for and how to adjust the settings.

The service itself reaches your PC over your home broadband connection, with no dish and no cable contract involved. That means the quality of your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection is the main variable. A wired connection from the PC to the router removes most of the instability that leads people to think their channel list is broken when the problem is actually signal dropout.
