Comedy channels: categories, favourites and search

It's a Tuesday evening, the flat is finally quiet, and you want something funny on the telly. The channel list stretches on for what feels like forever. Knowing where to look — categories, search, favourites — cuts that scroll down to almost nothing.

Start with the category filter

Most IPTV players organise channels into categories alongside a full unfiltered list. When you open the channel list in TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro, look for a panel or sidebar that lists genres rather than individual channels. Comedy will usually sit there as its own entry, though some providers label it 'Entertainment' or split it into sub-groups such as 'UK Comedy' and 'US Comedy'. Tap or click that category and the list trims itself immediately to only those channels, which is a lot easier to scan on a laptop propped on a desk or a TV across the room.

If your setup uses a MAG box, the portal menu works slightly differently: the main menu offers a genres section rather than a sidebar, so navigate there first before browsing by name.

The same logic applies to other interests. If a housemate wants to find children's content, the approach is identical — a guide covering pre-school channels and how to reach them without scrolling through everything uses the same category step as a starting point.

Search when you know the channel name

Categories help when you are browsing. Search helps when you already know what you want. Every major player has a search field somewhere in the channel browser — usually accessible from the top navigation or by pressing a dedicated button on a remote.

With a service carrying 50,000+ channels, the results list for even a broad term like 'comedy' returns a manageable shortlist in a moment. Partial names work fine: entering four or five letters is usually enough to narrow things down. On a phone or tablet used as a remote, this is the fastest route of all.

One thing worth knowing: search results show channels across all categories, so you might see a comedy channel alongside a channel whose name happens to contain the word. Glance at the category tag that appears next to each result — most players display it — to tell them apart quickly.

Frequently asked questions

What if I cannot see a comedy category in my player?

Not every player labels categories the same way. Try 'Entertainment' or 'UK TV' as alternatives, or use the search bar and type the channel name directly. If the category list looks incomplete, refreshing the playlist from the player's settings usually pulls in the full set.

Can I have more than one favourites list?

TiviMate lets you create several named groups, so you can have one for comedy, one for sport and so on. IPTV Smarters Pro supports a single favourites list, but you can order it however you like. Having even one tidy list is quicker than filtering by category each time.

Does the search work while the channel list is still loading?

It depends on the player, but most will search only the channels already loaded. Wait for the full sync to finish — it usually takes a few seconds — before relying on search results to be complete.

Can I use the same account on more than one device in the flat?

The number of simultaneous streams allowed depends on the plan you chose at sign-up. Check the plan details on the website or in the confirmation email to see what applies to your subscription.

Build a favourites list the whole flat can use

Once you have found the channels you actually watch, add them to a favourites list rather than hunting for them each time. In TiviMate, a long-press on a channel name brings up the option to add it to a group; in IPTV Smarters Pro the star icon does the same job. That favourites group then sits at the top of the channel browser, separate from the full catalogue.

In a shared house this matters more than it might seem. If four people each have a different idea of what a good evening looks like, one shared favourites list that covers comedy, sport and a few film channels means nobody has to explain where anything lives. Add the channels once, and the list is there for everyone on that device.

If you use Chromecast with Google TV and want to get TiviMate set up properly on it — including sorting out audio — there is a detailed walkthrough for TiviMate on Chromecast with Google TV covering soundbar audio settings that covers the full setup.

Getting your login details and signing in

If you have just subscribed to Pro IPTV UK, the credentials you need arrive by email shortly after payment. Check your spam folder if nothing appears in your inbox. The email contains everything the player needs: a username, a password and a server address. Enter them in the player of your choice — IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate both have a straightforward credentials screen — and the full channel list loads after a brief sync.

Once you are in, go straight to categories or search rather than scrolling from the top. With a list this large, browsing from the beginning is rarely the right move.
